Our History
Established in 1927 by Ezekiel Pennington, we initially ran two ‘Thornycroft’ wagons delivering Lime to local farmers. Since the wagons were used mostly during the weekdays a ‘Charabanc’ body was often fitted for outings to the seaside at the weekends. From delivering Lime. We then progressed to hauling steel for Cromptons of Ashton-In-Makerfield.
When Richard took over the reigns in the early sixties we gradually widened our customer base using Guy Warriors, ERF Coachbuilts and Commers fitted with Rootes TS3 two stroke engines. These were followed by Fodens, Atkinsons and ERF’s through into the 70’s.
In the mid-eighties we changed over to Volvo F10’s and gradually changing over to the fleet we run today which consists of Volvo FH12’s and DAF’s. We run a variety of trailers for use with these units including flat bed trailers, low loaders, tautliners and extended flatbed trailers.
Through to this day Pennington Haulage Ltd continues to serve all it’s highly valued clients as a friendly and caring family run business.
